Shampooing of carpets used to be a hit cleaning service until not later than the 1970s. The funny thing is almost every other booking inquiry we get end up with a customer asking whether carpets will be washed with shampoo.
Nowadays it is difficult to find information on carpet shampoo cleaning. And very hard to find a company that still does this service. This is mainly due to newer cleaning technology called deep steam cleaning or hot water extraction. It has become well favored for its faster drying time.
There are a lot of advantages to deep steam cleaning over shampooing. For one, it uses a piece of much lighter equipment. Another is the much quicker drying time. Before, you will have to wait a long time for carpets to dry up as repeated rinsing was required to wash out thick layers of shampoo. While hot water extraction only uses steam.
After the carpets are clean and what seems like a lifetime has gone by for the drying to take place the carpet will feel like they have a sticky residue left over.
Due to the sticky surface, it’ll now be faster for grime to build upon the carpet which is counterproductive. The chemicals on the shampoo will also over time stain the carpet with a yellow like effect.
Companies will only resort to shampoo carpet cleaning in almost hopeless carpet situations. Like deeply stained, heavily soiled and essentially almost black carpet due to dirt buildup.
While it can be justified for carpets in these state to be shampooed, deep steam cleaning can still easily restore carpets while the above conditions are present.
